Do we want a society of unproductive morons?
more..
When you think of marijuana smokers, what type of people come to mind? Lazy, uneducated, worthless morons who have nothing to contribute to our society. Why do we want to legalize a drug that will bring forth a society of lazy morons? Look at some of the health risks and the people associated to using the drug and you should see that it doesn't make sense to legalize this drug.
of productive pot smokers and even ones who are actually CREATING jobs for this crappy economy right now. The industrial uses on hemp could create many new markets but no one wants to hear it because they have these stigmas attached to it. They think it makes you stupid or lazy when the fact is those stupid lazy stoners would be just as stupid and lazy if they never started smoking.
It's not about forcing my or anyone's morals

The issue at hand here is that people work hard to make our society better for everyone. If people want to be "lazy and stupid" as you like to put it then they shouldn't be able to benefit as society moves forward. These people who want to be lazy and smoke marijuana will have to settle for not being able to benefit from the hard working people who make our society a better place.
Marijuana is not a legal drug so that right there eliminates your argument about having the right to get stoned. When it becomes a legal drug, which it shouldn't, then you can come at me with that lame argument.
There are plenty of things that were once illegal that we now accept and are legal.

What about prohibition? Alcohol was illegal in the 1920s but is legal now. Just because something is legal or illegal doesn't mean we shouldn't revisit those laws. Perhaps it made sense for marijuana to be illegal at some point, but it doesn't make sense anymore and should at the very least be decriminalized. Our laws should change as our society shifts and changes. What made sense for our society 100 years ago doesn't work now and we need to be able to adapt to that.
Are we better off having alcohol legalized? Look at the number of injuries and deaths related to drinking and ask yourself if we're better having alcohol legalized. Look at cigarettes as another example. In the United States 443,000 people die annually due to cigarette smoke INCLUDING people who inhale smoke second-hand. That means I can be walking in the street and because I inhale an increasing amount of second hand smoke I can die.
@black_dynamite13 Look at all the tax dollars Alcohol and tobacco produce. The political arguments for regarding legalizing marijuana consist less of adverse health effects, and more about how to tax it, unlike alcohol and tobacco it is very easy....

... to produce at home.
Another huge problem is its popularity with minors and its potent effects when mixed with other drugs.
killed in car crashes every year... should we take all cars off the road? With all the danger out there in the world I should just go home, lock myself in the closet and wait for death! Life is full of risks but this argument is not about those risks, it is about the legalization of marijuana. Marijuana, like alcohol can be used responsibly or irresponsibly. And responsible users of marijuana and alcohol should not be punished because of a few irresponsible users.
The irresponsible add to rising health care costs...

which hard-working contributors to society end up having to foot the bill. Why do we want to add to those costs by legalizing a drug that will only add to all of that? You correctly state that everyone is responsible for their own use of whatever drug they partake in but society shouldn't be responsible to adding another bill to list of potential users that society will become responsible for.
Why would you want to go through the process of legalizing it when it is already decriminalized.. you can smoke it and be as unproductive as you want and even carry around "personal" amounts as it is right now.. Legalizing it will make it that much harder to charge drug dealers who are pushing drugs on kids who are still developing and are not in the best frame of mind to make good decisions all the time..
then the government controls the sale of it. Just as we go to the government controlled liquor store for booze we will go to a government controlled weed store for marijuana. Legalization won't make it harder to prosecute dealers - legalization removes the need for marijuana dealers entirely.
then you are correct - the government does control it. I agree with you. It is currently decriminalized which saves tax payers money on petty charges for individuals caught with it.. Legalizing it is expensive to put into place, will put it under government control, and increase the cost for individuals to buy it. I feel that smokers should be happy as it is, and should oppose legalizing it.
How can you expect marijuana smokers to be happy
more..
with the situation as is? That's like saying gay people should be happy with not being able to marry in many states or that we should have kept slavery and just told the slaves to deal with it. The fact that marijuana is illegal is wrong. It needs to be righted, not ignored.
I disagree with you black_dynamite13 on the point about the added costs to health care.
more..
The fact that it is illegal doesn't seem to be stopping people from smoking it so by legalizing it there would be no added costs to healthcare. In fact, if the government controlled the sale of marijuana they could tax it and invest the money into healthcare instead of it landing in the hands of drug deals and mob members.
I think there is a common misconception that if marijuana is made legal that hoards of people will rush out and start using it. Anyone who wants to use it is using it already and legalizing it would serve to stop the unnecessary and wrong persecution and prosecution of these individuals.
With parent and doctor guiding marijuana can be good for kids with Attention Deficit Disorder. This help them to concentrate in school. Help them function in society.
Seriously, thats profiling if I ever saw it, what a pillar of the community you are. Try growing up and doing some productive, factual research then I might be inclined to listen to you.
THC cuts lung cancer growth, spread | ScienceBlog.comTHC cuts lung cancer growth, spread Hey you! The active ingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies.

Marijuana is a joke. It is a gateway drug. Do not legalize it just because a bunch of dumb, jobless hippies singing kumbaya want it that way. They screwed up because they did drugs. It is their own damn fault and they should be penalized for that!
